Motorsport History
2004
Ryans Motorsport started in 2004 when we entered a car in the Stryker Sports Car challenge. When we decided to take up car racing as a hobby we looked into the different classes around at the time and the Stryker class seemed to be one of the best run budget classes. We had a reasonably good season finishing 4th in the 1.6 championship.
2005
For 2005 we rebuilt our car with a new chassis and continued in the 1.6 championship finishing 1st in the 1.6 class.
2006 - Time for a change
Through our dealings with Raw Engineering, the offical manufactuer of the Stryker, we became aware that their works Hayabusa powered Raw Stryker was up for sale. Raw competed in the 2004 RGB series with this car and had 6 outright wins and close 2nd in all other races, coming 2nd in the championship. This car was the first lowered chassis Raw Engineering built and is completely different than the standard Stryker. We entered the Irish Formula Libre class with this car and took part in the occasional hill climb and sprint. We had a very lucky year with this car giving us bullet proof reliability which helped us to finish 2nd overall in the Libre Championship ahead of some more powerful single seaters and sports cars. Also during 2006 we were gearing up to become the Irish Raw Stryker distributor and we were also running Tristin Quinns Stryker in the Irish Stryker Sports Car challange which he won outright.
2007 - A very busy year
For 2007 we had a fully stocked van at all the Stryker Sports Cars races and provided support and repairs. We were also running Tristin Quinns car in the Stryker series which he again won outright. Due to being so busy we did not get to do much racing ourselves and missed 2 of the Formula Libre rounds but again due to bullet proof realibility we manged to finish 3rd in the 2.0 litre championship.
2008 - An even busier year
For 2008 we were again providing support, repairs and parts for the Irish Stryker Sports Car challange and also built a new rental car for the series. Again we were running Tristin Quinn but this time in the Formula Sheane single seater championship. He finished 3rd in the championship, a great result for his 1st year and dominated at Anglesy winning both races. We were also running cars for Andrew D'Alton, Paul Murphy, Valter Fernandes and Joao Blattmann. These drivers were regularly taking over the top 4 positions and finished the championship in the following order:
1st - Joao Blattmann
3rd - Valter Fernades
4th - Andrew D'Alton
5th - Paul Murphy
Due to being busy with all this we only did one race ourselves but myself and the rest of the team got great satisfaction watching the cars we prepared reguarly winning and getting podium positions. The one race we did was our first outting in a single seater - a Dallara F3, thanks to the owner for the loan
Libre race, Anglesy 5th July
Race 1 - qualified 4th finished 4th
Race 2 - qualified 4th DNF crash
2009 - Time for a bit of a break
For 2009 we decided to cut back on our motorsport activities to concentrate on other areas of our business and to get back to enjoying what we started out to do - Racing!!!.
The only cars we were helping out with were Tristin Quinns Sheane and our Libre styrker and race series stryker. This year Tristin finished 4th in the championship due to a few savage crashes. The highlight again as in 2008 was dominating at the Anglesy circuit with the help of chief mechanic Kevin McGrath.
We also rented our Stryker to Jennifer Mullan and Paul Grogan. Jennifer took part the Stryker race in Kirkistown having never driven a Stryker before she was right on the pace after the 1st days testing. She also raced at Phoenix Park but unfortunately in race 1 she had DNF but made up for it in race 2, finishing 8th having a cracker of a midfield battle. Superb result for only her 2nd stryker race. Paul then rented the car for the Leinster Trophy, again having never driven a stryker before had a superb result finishing 11th out of 21 cars in race 1. And unfortnuatly for race 2 he had a DNF. We would like to thank them both and hope they enjoyed their racing. A special thanks to Paul for building and designing this website. - great job.
We took part in a few Libre races and a few Stryker races this year and have enjoyed each of them.
