Mahle Nitrogen Leak Test Kit

The Mahle nitrogen leak test kit is an accessory of the Clima line that can be used with the ACX410 air conditioning machine and the ACX310 air conditioning machine to check the tightness of a vehicles A/C system.

The method consists in the pressurisation of the A/C system with nitrogen (N2) or preferably N2H2(Nitrogen/Hydrogen forming gas) at a pressure ranging between 10 and 15 bar. After a short stabilisation period, the system pressure monitoring starts. Pressure variation is measured over time and if the system pressure decreases this means there is a leak and if the system pressure remains constant it means the system is tight.

The tests uses a pressure sensor integrated in the recharge station. This allows for the automation of the test procedure and for a greater resolution of the sensor with regards to the use of a simple analogue pressure gauge, this reduces the execution time and the test will just take a few minutes.

What are the advantages?
The nitrogen test offers many advantages such as, Nitrogen is an insert gas that does not interact with the oils contained in the system and does not leave any residue and it also has no impact on the environment and it can safely be released into the atmosphere at the end of the test.

When should a pressure leak test be carried out?
We recommend executing the pressure leak test during the diagnostic phase. For instance on a vehicle that has arrived to the garage with an empty A/C system, both during the verification phase and after the repair operations on a system have been performed the repair operator can check the leaks in a system without having to re-inject refrigerant.
