Diagnostics: The Thinktool X5 has the same diagnostic coverage as most of the Thinkcar diagnostic tool range but without any coding and programming functions or some other special functions

Remote diagnostics: With the Thinktool X5 repair shops and automotive technicians can use the X5 to request and receive support from remote diagnostic service providers where they providers can connect to the car in your workshop with there diagnostic equipment and perform remote diagnostics services for you

How the remote diagnostics works: Via the X5 device a remote connection is made with the car, which does not have to leave your workshop. The communication between the car and the X5 device and the service provider is done entirely via the internet network. The X5 is connected to the OBD plug on one side, then the car is selected and the user fills out the request and books a appointment with the service provider, then the provider will arrange a appointment with you, and when ready the provider can connect to the car remotely with there huge array of diagnostic equipment and preform many specialist diagnostic services for you

Just think of it like its a very long diagnostic cable that allows us to connect to a vehicle anywhere in Ireland with our diagnostic equipment

But as with any automotive diagnostic work there is always some limitations, NO ONE CAN DO EVERYTHING AND SUCH CLAIMS NEED TO BE TAKEN WITH A PINCH OF SALT

Some of the limitations are

  • Wont work with some older vehicles that use old diagnostic protocols
  • Wont work with older vehicles that does not have a 16 pin diagnostic socket
  • Wont perform any coding functions on BMW vehicles that require coding trough the MOST bus diagnostic connection
  • Not recommended for software updates on vehicles due to the risk of a issue when trying to transfer a larger file over the internet
  • And if Ryan’s Automotive or Other service providers don’t have the necessary diagnostic software to complete the function

Example of use:

A workshop in Cork has a vehicle in his workshop and needs to replace steering lock and he needs to perform the steering lock coding

He tries one of his own diagnostic tools and he does not have that function listed in his diagnostic tool for that vehicle

Then he tries his other diagnostic tool and this wont do it either,

Now he has a few options

Option 1: Tell his customer he will have get the vehicle towed to a different workshop to get the steering lock coded

Option 2: Take the car to a workshop or a dealer with a tow truck to get the job completed

Option 3: Have a mobile diagnostic person call to his workshop to perform the coding

The 3 options above will get the job done but creates extra hassle, delays and expensive to either the customer or the workshop

But with the Thinkcar Thinktool X5 the workshop would have been able to complete the job without the vehicle having to leave his workshop

Terms and conditions:

  • The workshop must have internet speeds exceeding 30Mbps download and 20Mbps upload
  • Workshop must have a minimum 100amp battery support unit
  • Must be a registered workshop in Ireland
  • Will need SERMI approval when SERMI is up and running in Ireland
  • Customer must be present at the vehicle at all times during the connection to cycle ignition etc
  • The X5 must have a valid diagnostic software subscription as well as the remote diagnostic subscription

Remote Control Mode

When the internet speed is low, the workshop can use X5 to initiate remote control via Sunflower application. Online technician can then remote control X5 to diagnose consumer vehicles.

    We at Ryan’s automotive pride ourselves on the support we give with the products we sell,
    As we believe that selling the product to the customer is only the 1st step and that ongoing support is very important so the customer can get good value from his equipment,
    We are also in a great position to support these products as we use them every day in our own workshop,
    Support and after sales service can sometimes be a very loosely used terms and it is not always clear what the supplier is committing to, this is why we want to explain as clearly as possible what both parties are committing to.
    All of the below is based on units sold in Ireland (32 counties) and for outside Ireland it is not possible to provide all of the below support and after sales in the same forms, for example loaner units calling on site etc, so please enquire for more information if you are based outside of Ireland.

    Warranty
    All ThinkCar diagnostic tools come with 1 year warranty
    And all warranty repairs if required will be either carried out on site or the unit picked up and taken back to Ryan’s Automotive for repairs and a loaner unit will be left with the user until the unit is delivered back. In the cases where we would get a courier to pick up the unit we would ask the workshop to pack up the unit carefully to avoid damage in transport,
    We aim to keep the customer up and running and will either have the issue fixed or a loaner unit delivered to the customer within 48 hours (Monday to Friday).

    Items excluded from the 1 year warranty are
    Cables, OBD connections, scope leads and scope accessories
    Problems caused by other APPS or other software’s that the user installs on the device
    Damage to the machine caused by incorrect power supply, Excessive dampness, or any other damage caused by fluid ingress, accidental damages, incorrect use damages or unauthorized modifications.

    Delivery and Training
    Ryan’s Automotive or a courier will deliver the unit to your workshop and we will assist in registering and updating if needed
    And spend 1 hours onsite (or if not possible to call onsite can provide training over team viewer and phone) providing training on use of the machine.
    We also can provide extra chargeable training if required.

    Support
    Ryan’s Automotive can provide tool and software technical support by phone, WhatsApp, our customer support portal, email or by logging into your unit via team viewer when needed (subject to fair use).
    We also have a support section on our website which has videos and information on how to use and update the unit and also has some common vehicle diagnostic procedures and known problems, users can also send us tickets via this support area.
    Additional support packages are required for vehicle technical support.

    Not included in the support
    Technical information that is found on systems like Autodata, Alldata etc,
    The above support does not include vehicle technical support but we are always willing to help customers were we can.

    Repairs not covered by the warranty and after the warranty period
    For repairs not covered by warranty or after the warranty we can assist in few different ways all at very reasonable rates,
    1 Log into the unit via team viewer
    2 Call on site and perform the necessary work and if needed take the unit back to Ryan’s Automotive for completion
    3 Owner can deliverer the machine to Ryan’s Automotive to be repaired (this will save on call out or transportation fees)
    4 Arrange to get the unit picked up and taken back to Ryan’s Automotive
    5 Send out the necessary parts to the owner and advise over the phone how to perform the necessary operation
    6 Provide a hire unit for the period that the unit is out of action (note this is chargeable for non warranty repairs and subject to availability)
