Vehicle software update j2534

Most of us relate a vehicle tune up to changing plugs and adjusting timing but this is only the case on older vehicles. Unfortunately its not so simple on the modern vehicle. All modern cars nowadays are kept in tune using sensors and the vehicles computer(ecu)

The 21st century tune up is now performed by doing a software update on the vehicles Ecu.
When the vehicle is produced the ecus parameters are fine tuned to suit the new engine and vehicle components such as injectors/fuel pumps/sensors. As these parts wear with mileage this may affect the ecus ability to be able to control all aspects of engines performance perfectly. This is why manufacturers are forced to release software updates for the ecu. These softwares allow for component wear and allow the engine to run smoothly again.

At Ryans Automotive we can now perform software updates on the following vehicles thanks to subscriptions we have with the below manufacturers. To perform the update we log onto the manufacturers website and download the software from the website onto our computer. The software is then loaded to your vehicle using a J2534 compatable device.
The same procedure is also needed for replacing many electronic parts on todays cars. For example the software for a new Electronic steering lock for a Volvo S80 needs to be downloaded from the Volvo website before it is loaded to the car. The new steering lock will not work until this has been done.

We can perform the above functions on the following brands with more coming soon!!
